The news of the arrest of a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal, by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, broke last night.
But EFCC sources have explained to DENISAURUS News that Mr Lawal is enjoying in an air-conditioned cell with complete access to his phones, unlike all other suspects, who are usually stripped of their gadgets.
Mr Lawal, who was indicted by the Senate for awarding a grass cutting contract of over 200 million Naira to his company, was eventually picked up a day after an ex-president complained about the nepotism in this government.
In his letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo said the “nepotic deployment bordering on clannishness and inability to bring discipline to bear on errant members” has had “grave consequences on performance of this government to the detriment of the nation.”
