A British woman shot in front of her husband and three children after they drove into a Brazilian slum by accident has been named as Eloise Dixon from Kent.
The 46-year-old who was on holiday in Brazil with her family had strayed into the Agua Santa community in Angra dos Reis, a coastal destination 90 miles away from Rio when she was shot twice in the stomach.
Her condition is said to be stable with injuries not thought to be life-threatening while her husband and children were unhurt.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are in touch with the local authorities in Angra dos Reis, Brazil, following reports of the shooting of a British national.”
