The Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, will soon be screened by lawmakers in the Senate.
Professor Yemi Osinbajo, the Acting President wrote the Senate, seeking the confirmation of Justice Onnoghen’s confirmation, earlier this month.
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki read the request letter to the House on Tuesday February 21.
He announced today at plenary that Justice Onnoghen’s confirmation hearing will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, March 1.
Meanwhile, Senator Saraki has received high commendation from a representative of the giant social media site, Facebook.
The Chief Product Officer and Company Lead on Product Management and Development of Facebook, Christopher Cox, praised Nigeria’s number three man for opening up the activities of the 8th National Assembly with the weekly “live video streaming at plenary.”
Bamikole Omishore, the Special Assistant on New Media to the President of the Senate he said the “commendation reinforces one of the core mandates of the Senate President to the New Media unit, which is to bridge the gap between the Senate and Nigerians.
He stated that the “Nigerian Senate Facebook live streaming has an average view of four million unique clicks monthly for the plenary live feeds.”
Adding that: “We will be expanding coverage to courtesy calls, committee hearings and oversights in the next few months.”
Also welcoming the news, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim posted: “That the #SocialMedia has made governance more open and accessible is a reality that can never be gainsaid. Great job!”
