A former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro has filed a lawsuit accusing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC of forceful seizure of his property.
Senator Obanikoro and his family are suing the EFCC for N100 million and demanding an “unreserved public apology.”
Ekiti Gate Scandal
In 2014, he was exposed in the rigging of the Ekiti elections dubbed as the #EkitiGate scandal. He was also accused of receiving N4.7bn payment from the office of the National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki.
Out of the N4.7bn, Obanikoro allegedly gave N3.880bn to Governor Ayodele Fayose and Senator Iyiola Omisore in July 2014, when they were the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidates in Ekiti and Osun states respectively.
In turn, Senator Obanikoro and his family are suing the EFCC for N100 million and demanding an “unreserved public apology.”
Justice Abdulazeez Anka has fixed March 28 for his ruling.
