The Republican Presidential candidate, Donald Trump has pledged to be a “president for all Americans,”in an historical victory speech at Hilton in New York.
The election success of Mr Trump, who becomes the 45th US President comes as a surprise to many.

The 70-year-old President-Elect set to become the oldest person to be elected to first term, won key swing states such as Iowa, Florida, North Carolina and Ohio in the early morning of Wednesday 9th November.
In his New York victory speech, he said that he was “reaching out” to the people who had failed to support him to so they can work together and “unify our great country”
Mr Trump said “working together we will begin the urgent task of rebuilding America,” adding that “it will be a beautiful thing.
“As I have said from the beginning ours was not a campaign but rather it was a movement. It is a movement comprised of all Americans from all races who want the government to serve the people and serve the people it will.”
There have been different reactions to Mr Trump’s election win. While angry protesters have taken to the streets in California, the Russian President, Vladimir Putin called to hail and congratulate, Mr Trump.
The Nigerian President also sent a congratulatory message to the incoming president.
President Muhammadu Buhari who received high praise from the outgoing President Barack Obama, called it a “triumph of the people,” adding that he was looking forward to working with Mr Trump.
Francois Hollande, on the other hand was slow to send his congratulations but when he did, he said, he only did so “as it is expected from two Heads of State.”
Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of the Labour party condemned the “nasty and divisive campaign” run by Mr Trump.
Mr Corbyn expressed that the result was very surprising to everybody after a very nasty and divisive campaign that President elect Trump has run.
Mr Hollande, the French socialist President, a fierce critic of Mr Trump, like many others had predicted a victory for Secretary Clinton.
In concluding his speech, Mr Trump said though America’s interest would be put first, he will “deal with every one fairly.”
He added that “we will get along with those who choose to get along with us. America will no longer settle for any thing less than the best.”
Several polls had given Hilary Clinton, the flag bearer for the Democrat, the lead, before the elections.
The former First Lady and Secretary of State called the business man to concede defeat but has not spoken to the press since the election results were declared.
President Obama has invited the President-Elect for a White House visit.
